In this engaging and practical workshop, Tanya will introduce participants to the essential principles for creating beautiful, inviting spaces that spark children’s curiosity and inspire meaningful play. Thoughtfully designed invitations for play are more than just activities—they are opportunities for children to explore, create, and make sense of the world around them.
Participants will learn how to intentionally select and present materials in ways that invite children to engage, investigate, and extend their thinking. Through real examples and hands-on reflection, Tanya will guide educators in transforming everyday materials into purposeful invitations that support creativity, independence, and deeper learning.
This session will also explore how environment, aesthetics, and intentional setup play a critical role in children’s engagement, behaviour, and overall development. Educators will reflect on their current practices and gain practical strategies to elevate their environments and programming.
Participants will:
- Understand the key principles of creating effective invitations for play
- Learn how to select and arrange materials to spark curiosity and engagement
- Explore how environment design influences children’s learning and behaviour
